Following a damning assessment from election officials and the prospect of fines of $50,000 per day, Cyber Ninjas, the business that led a biased analysis of 2020 votes in Arizona, is shutting down.
“Cyber Ninja is coming to an end.” Rod Thomson, CEO Doug Logan’s spokeswoman, said in a text message Thursday evening that “all workers have been let go.” It was unclear who else was involved in the firm and who decided to close it down beside Logan. According to its LinkedIn page, the Florida-based company, which was started in 2013, has fewer than a dozen employees.
Sam Levine, a reporter for The Guardian, first reported the news of Cyber Ninjas closing down on Thursday, tweeting that CEO “Doug Logan and the rest of the employees have been let go and Cyber Ninjas is being shut down.”
Cyber Ninjas’ plans to shut down was first reported by a reporter for The Guardian on Thursday. The Associated Press reported Thursday that Maricopa County Superior Court Judge John Hannah said he would fine Cyber Ninjas $50,000 every day until it handed over information relating to the so-called audit after the Arizona Republic newspaper filed a public records request.
The firm was hired to conduct an audit of the 2020 election in Maricopa County following former President Trump’s claims the election was stolen from him. Arizona was a swing state that Biden won narrowly.
A request for comment from Jack Wilenchik, a Cyber Ninjas lawyer, was not immediately returned.
Almost every assertion in the ballot review was refuted in a report provided by county election officials on Wednesday. Nearly 80 statements made by Cyber Ninjas were found to be misleading or inaccurate, according to the report.
In September, state Senate Republicans released the findings of their conspiracy-laden audit of the 2020 presidential election results. It decided that President Joe Biden had received 360 more votes in the official count than Maricopa County had given him.
“The truth is the truth.” At a hearing last year on the audit study, Arizona Senate President Karen Fann noted, “Numbers are numbers.”
After Biden flipped Arizona blue for the first time in decades by defeating former President Donald Trump by more than 10,400 votes, state Senate Republicans engaged Cyber Ninjas to perform an election audit of ballots in Maricopa County, the state’s most populated county.
Even though Trump’s senior cybersecurity official at the time declared the election was “the most secure in American history,” the ballot review sprang from Republican legislators’ attempts to reverse Biden’s victory. The Justice Department had likewise discovered no proof of significant voting fraud, according to then-Attorney General William Barr.
