Get Started With Your First Technical Blog

Are you about to begin your first technical blog? “Where do I even begin?” you may be asking yourself. If you find yourself in this situation, the purpose of this blog is to assist you in breaking down the entire procedure into something more readily consumable. The actual writing process will be much easier once you understand some essential building pieces. But, before I get into how to start a blog, let me first explain why you should begin one.

Why Should One Write A Technical Blog?

There are numerous advantages to creating a technical blog, including aiding others. If you’re still undecided, consider the following five reasons why you should write one.

    1. The best method to learn something is to pass on what you’ve learned to others. Regurgitating the information can help you remember it better.

    2. While building your own business, you are providing value where you work. Your boss will be grateful that you went out of your way to show others how to address a problem you encountered.

    3. You’re honing your critical thinking abilities. Critical thinking is required when conducting research, collecting data, and transforming that data into something that others can understand. It’s like exercising a muscle: the more you use it, the more efficient and quick you get at solving difficulties.

    4. Being a good communicator is a significant part of being a valued employee. Putting this in a blog is a simple method to show off this talent or work on it if you don’t have it. One thing is to solve an issue on your own. However, it is another thing to communicate an idea that can be comprehended by many individuals.

    5. Last but not least, potential employers are looking online more than ever to check what convincing projects you’ve worked on previously. It is a prominent opportunity to exhibit some of your work to the public. It will impress them that you spent time researching and sharing your findings with an online audience.

Now that you know why you should write a tech blog, it’s time to help you figure out how you can write technical blogs. Follow these steps for a great technical blog post.

    How to write your Blog?

The first step is to decide what you will write about. Write down the topic you want to cover in your post. Also, you can’t begin writing without having a purpose behind your blog. So first, you have to get an idea and purpose for your technical blog. For example, your objectives can be
    1. A step-by-step procedure for reaching a given objective.
    2. A detailed analysis of a topic
    3. Facts on a common topic arranged by number

You may face several common concerns like- topics related to your blog already existing. The idea I have is not interesting enough. Remember, there is no reason to stop you from starting your blog post. Even if the idea has already been written about, you can give it a unique perspective or make it relevant to your situation.

    Research

You’ll need to prepare some foundation ahead of time, as with everything you’ll be presenting. Look into what research has previously been done on the issue you wish to address on Google. You can also pull what you need from websites that you have visited in the past. This isn’t cheating, and you will save yourself time this way. There is no need to spend energy when someone else has already done a great deal of the initial work; all you do is collect those pieces of handy information into one place individuals can easily access it.

    An introduction, middle, and conclusion

The goal is to capture the reader’s attention in the first couple of sentences. So deliver them a bit of context, so they understand where your post fits into the big picture. You might feel tempted to leave the biggest reveal for the end of the article, but know this: not having a hook for your audience would not take them to the end.

Your readers have already been told what to expect, so now it’s time for you to deliver! Feel free to go into as much detail as you need, and leave signposts along the way to help them along! To help people locate themselves, use headings, numbered lists, and formatting that allows them to skip to the parts they are most interested in.

When you end your article, don’t just disappear into thin air. If your reader has made it this far, they are interested. Give them a quick recap of what they learned, a pat on the back for reading, and, if they’re feeling inspired, a suggestion for what they should do next – a call to action.

Few tips to follow while writing:

    1. Keep the content short and impactful. Write with the assumption that someone can scan through the text and get what they require.
    2. Insert a link if there is an explanation for what you are saying.
    3. Use relevant videos and images to convey your message
    4. Write as if you are writing for a 15-year-old. With this technical blog, the goal is to make the concept simple and easy to understand.

    Editing Your Blog

Now comes your final work, editing. Review your work again. Check for spelling and grammatical errors. Ensure that your work is sound from both a technical and grammatical perspective. Next, pass it along to two to three people for any additional feedback that they may have.
