Dubai has become the world’s first paperless government, according to an announcement made on Saturday.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, made the announcement in a tweet.

The paperless initiative launched in 2018, requested the government to switch to an eco-friendly environment.

This move saves approximately 336 million sheets.

“Today marks the start of a new chapter in Dubai’s quest to digitize life in all of its forms. A journey rooted in innovation.”

    A new adventure awaits you:

All the businesses in Dubai, have come to a common dream, of supporting the ban on single-use plastics.

The leaders of the nation commented saying, “We are proud to see our leadership’s ambitious goal being fulfilled finally.

Recalling the constant competition, Hamdan said, “The shift to a paperless government is something we will hold our heads high on. We have worked tirelessly to strengthen Dubai’s competitive edge as a world-leading digital capital, along with strengthening our reputation.”

Sheikh Hamdan applauded the efforts of teams from across the emirate’s participating government organizations. “Happy to see the efforts for transforming Dubai’s status as a global leader is on the way.”

“We celebrate this success with our eyes firmly fixed on the goal. Now we are moving forward to delivering a completely digital life for people of the emirate,” he said.

The next step would be to provide a fully digital existence for citizens of the emirate.

Future governments will be able to meet the demands of citizens of a flourishing smart city. Which will provide them new chances for wealth and sustainable development.

All thanks to the new phase of Dubai’s digital journey, Sheikh Hamdan stated.

“His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, had a goal four years ago.

Which showcased that no Dubai Public official or customer would need to print any paper document beyond 2021.

The realization of Dubai’s aim to become the world’s first paperless government, according to Hamad Al Mansoori, Director-General, Digital Dubai, is a proud moment for the country.

This move has come as an important event, thereby, helping the government with its internal and external transactions, as well as operations.

Dubai aims to be a role model in the modern world of technology and government operations.
