100 planes that recently traveled to Russia had been “effectively grounded,” including one belonging to Russian businessman Roman Abramovich.

According to Bloomberg, it was detected as a plane that reportedly violated US export rules. Having placed on Russia during its invasion of Ukraine.

Abramovich’s Gulfstream G650 private jet is regarded as one of the “most prestigious” planes in private aviation.

According to the agency, the other grounded aircraft include 99 Boeing jets operated by Russian passenger and cargo airlines. Including Aeroflot, AirBridge Cargo, Utair, Nordwind, Azur Air, and Aviastar.

“Today, the Department of Commerce is showing the power and scope of the steps we took over the past few months,” said Gina M. Raimondo.

“We will not allow Russian and Belarusian companies and individuals to travel freely in violation of our rules,”

“We are posting this list to tell the rest of the world”, the secretary of commerce stated.

Commercial and private jets flying to Russia and Belarus were banned by the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) on March 2.

However, the restrictions are that any aircraft constructed in the United States. Along with, or in a foreign country with more than 25% US-origin regulated content, must obtain a license.

According to the statement, any refueling, maintenance, or repair work on any of the listed planes.Along with the supply of spare parts or services, violates US export rules.

The Commerce Department states, “providing any of these services to these planes anywhere in the world requires prior authorization”

Additonally, If you don’t have it, you might face jail time. Along with extra fines and the loss of your export licenses.

“By preventing these aircraft from getting any service, including from outside Russia,” the department said,

“international flights from Russia on these aircraft are practically grounded.”

Roman Abramovich is one of several Russian oligarchs who have been targeted by Western countries as a result of the country’s conflict with Ukraine. Following the sanctions, a millionaire Russian oligarch recently claimed that he didn’t know how to live.

“They have actual teeth. As a result, they will continue to bite harder on the Russian and Belarusian economy. As long as Putin’s battle continues.”

Mr. Abramovich is one of the seven billionaires to be sanctioned by the UK government. As a result of the Ukraine crisis.

He is also the current owner of Chelsea FC and is suspected of having close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, which he rejects.

The US, Canada, and much of Europe have all stopped Russian jets from flying through their area, forcing many of Russia’s international flights to be canceled.
