SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, provided an update on its Starlink internet service on Thursday, as it launched more satellites into space.
During a live stream of SpaceX’s first launch of the year, engineer Jessie Anderson stated Starlink currently has over 145,000 customers in 25 countries across the world. This represents a decrease in user growth from 140,000 users in early November.
On Thursday, the corporation launched 49 Starlink satellites into orbit from Florida using a Falcon 9 rocket. Starlink is the company’s ambition to create an interconnected internet network with thousands of satellites, often known as a constellation in the space business. It’s designed to provide high-speed internet to people all around the world. Around 1,800 Starlink satellites are in orbit, according to SpaceX.
The 5,000 new users added in the last two months signifies a slowing in growth. Since starting operations in October 2020, SpaceX had added about 11,000 users per month till November.
