James Pflueger was held responsible for the tragedy for his management of the dam. He was sentenced to seven months in jail by a state judge in 2014. He was released in the year 2015 but unfortunately died in 2017 at the age of 91.
Mark Zuckerberg and his wife are doing their part of fulfilling legal requirements and promoting safety measures at the reservoir, said Ben LaBolt.
The dam is still in an unrepaired condition and tops the state’s list of high-risk dams. Amidst this, Zuckerberg’s decision to buy this land is confusing netizens and making news. Many locals viewed Zuckerberg’s land acquisitions as a “new monarchy” that ignored the island’s past.
In 2016, Zuckerberg enraged his neighbors by erecting a 6-foot wall around his home in the hopes of decreasing highway and road noise. A year later, Zuckerberg launched a lawsuit against the families who claimed ownership of land pieces on his property, claiming that he was doing so to “ensure smaller partial owners be paid for their due share too.” Residents, on the other hand, called the action “neocolonialism.”
Presently, Mr. and Mrs. Zuckerberg is planning to extend farming, ranching, conservation, and wildlife protection work on the land, LaBolt, the couple’s spokesperson said.
